…outfit post: black, white, first flight…

H&M shirt
F21 jeans
Steve Madden Melrow shoes

The lighting is tragic, but I want you guys to see that I do acutally leave my house and backyard.  Not often, but sometimes.

Saturday was the day for the Melrow’s maiden voyage.  For anyone who is toying with the idea of purchasing them, know that this pair has my full, unpaid endorsement.  They’re (hand)made well and are insanely comfortable.  I spent from afternoon until nearly midnight in them and had no issues at all.  Shocking, SHOCKING, I say!

And what was I doing until nearly midnight, you ask?  I was out with my guru and a bunch of LA bloggers eating tacos al pastor and drinking margaritas at Malo in Silverlake!  Good times.  I mean, tacos are already a good time, but when you put them with a bunch of women and add alcohol, the night becomes exceptional.  And, because my guru is awesome like that, she brought her silver Cleopatra earrings for everyone to wear.

Photo of this lovely set of LA bloggers + ghost child jacked from Wendy B; taken by Mr. B.  More event coverage is on Wendy B’s Blog.  From L to R, Miss Janey, Stylesmith, me, Deja Pseu of Une Femme d’un Certain Age, Sandra of Debutante Clothing, WendyB, Sister Wolf

The waitress was calling us “The Sex and the City girls” all night.  If you don’t know why, remind me to sock you when I see you…

See Samantha.
See Samantha in Sex and the City.
See Samantha in Sex and the City wearing the Wendy Brandes Cleopatra earrings in gold.

I had a great time, ladies.  A huge hug and thank you to Wendy B and Mr. B!!!

…my favorite things…

Angie and me.  I’m wearing an H&M shirt (recommended for those who like the Elizabeth & James Artist shirt, but refuse to pay $200+ for it), and duchamped shorts and boots.  The brooch was a gift from Birdie.

I’m not big on making extravagant plans on holiday weekends.  I usually end up spending the entire time in my sweats, watching the Food Network and eating cereal.  It sounds like a total waste, but it’s my idea of a pretty freakin’ sweet weekend.

This time around, watching the Food Network gave me an incredible craving for fish tacos.  I decided the mission for Monday was to find some and gorge.  Angie was in town, so she, dudeguy and I headed over to Best Fish Taco in Ensenada…in Los Feliz.  Their assortment of mild & spicy salsas is enough of a reason to pay a visit.  Two better ones are the tacos are really good and pretty cheap ($1.50 for fish, $2 for shrimp).  If you go, bring cash and get lime wedges.  You are missing a vital part of the taco experience if you don’t enjoy a drizzle of lime juice on top.

Afterward, we went on a Rite Aid ice cream run and parked next to this beautiful blue 1966 Mustang coupe.  After my initial gasp-and-clutch-the-pearls reaction, I HAD to take pictures.  It was GORGEOUS.  Everything original except the radio and quite possibly the paint.  Fantastic condition all around.  I wanted it…I really did…

I’ve had a thing for pre-1974 Mustangs since I was about 12.  For years, I’ve dreamt of owning a 1968 Shelby Cobra GT 500 KR convertible (the KR stands for King of the Road).  It is truly the stuff of legends - 1968 was the first year the Shelby convertible was introduced and only 518 were made.   I won’t get into engine specs, but believe me, this thing was a MONSTER.  My dad had this exact model in ALL BLACK decades ago that succumbed to theives of car parts (*heart breaks and subsequently explodes*).  Finding one has been on my “must do” list ever since he told me about it.  I’ll have to win the lottery to make it happen - they’re going for around $285,000 - but a girl can dream, right?

Forgive me if you don’t care anything about all of this car stuff, but I’d probably sell my firstborn to get my hands on this right here:

…let’s chill…

thrifted dress
DIY scarf
Max Studio shoes (not pictured)

I jacked all of these photos from The Queen of Hearts who was visiting from the east coast.  Somehow, I convinced her, her gorgeous friend B, and the always lovely Ev’Yan of Apricot Tea to accompany me to USC’s Gearfest on Friday night.  It was cold as hell.  So cold, that dancing around and taking pictures was about the only thing we could do to keep warm.

GOOD TIMES!!!

**I wasn’t high that night, I swear; grinning like a Cheshire cat just comes naturally**

More photos at The Queen’s.

…beaming…

Me, my camera, dudeguy’s wooly right elbow

I stole this from Natalie.  My fool ass didn’t take any pictures that weren’t of food when we went to dinner.

Typical.  Very typical.

I’ve been knee-deep in projects, guys; preparing to lauch DRKGMTRY on April 1st,  knocking out a few DIY projects, putting things on sale in the etsy store, and figuring out the whole point to Lost (it isn’t exciting…AT ALL).

Oh…yeah, I kind of slipped in DRKGMTRY like you all are supposed to know what the hell that is.  In short, it’s the antithesis to the etsy store.  Darker, if you will.  Lots of leather.  Fun stuff!   Let’s hope I can get it all photographed so a proper preview can be posted.

*crosses fingers*

Thank you all for your comments on the Terry Richardson…issue…I love it when I can get an actual discussion going, so *hugs* and *fist bumps* to all of you for adding your insights and opinions.

…the other side of the game…

Last Thursday, I got to meet up with gorgeous L.A. bloggers Diabolina of Da Fashionista, Natalie of Fashion Intel and my favorite Aussie blogger Lenya of The Fashion Loving Stylist who was in town for the weekend.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

I can’t tell you how much it means when I get to meet up with some of the coolest, sweetest, fashionable people I know to talk about shoes, Natalie’s Wang (bag) and TRANNIES!!!!

(side note: I’m all ready for season 2 of RuPaul’s Drag Race to start tomorrow.  Are you?  If you’re unaware of what is probably the greatest reality show on television, go here to watch all of season 1.)

Seriously though, all of these ladies are amazingly wonderful people and if you haven’t already, visit their blogs!

Obligatory photos of us tearing around Downtown L.A.:

(Diabolina’s adorable ring)

These photos are Diabolina’s which I kinda…stole…umm…yeah

Diabolina took this one

And this one is Lenya’s (which I also  ”stole”…)

A big “thank you” to the man with the accent in Seven Grand (which now SUCKS, btw) who saw us taking photos of ourselves and offered to get one…or a few…of all of us together.  L to R is moi, Diabolina, Natalie, and Lenya.

I <3 y’all!
