Rag & Boner: Redux

Rag & Bone boots
Well, that didn’t take long.
Feet, meet Harrows. After second (and third) thoughts on whether or not to give Otte my probably better spent on kitchen appliances money, well…you know.
Since I miss writing, I’m going to continue to ramble on about buying these boots. Stick around if you have a few minutes to kill. Or not.
I have a fascination with the conscious consumption niche of blogs (Empty Emptor being a favorite for archive reading). When possible (read: binge shopping), I try to apply some semblance of thoughtfulness to what I’m purchasing in a vain attempt to…consciously consume. In this case, I came up with a number of rationalizations for and arguments against this purchase. I’m on a perpetual hunt for comfortable, black footwear that both looks good and can take a beating. These met the criteria. I also had a discount code, so that, naturally, was factored in. Conversely, I’m buying a mortgage house. And things to go inside of it. How the scales tipped in favor of boots can only be explained by the pervasiveness of the phrase “YOLO,” followed shortly by “I’m never going to be able to do this again,” and followed still by “oh shit, Primary is having a sale and I should probably get that jacket I’ve been looking at for months…”
*sigh*
I lack self-control, but that non-phenomenon is for another post at another time. Probably around the time I get that jacket. I’m digressing.
Since I couldn’t explain to Dudeguy that I spent the equivalent of a stove on footwear, I decided to sell a few things on eBay to soften the blow and to ease some of my own guilt (heh). The now too brown for my sensibilities Rachel Comey boots of yore have been re-homed. The Colonial Madness boots I once pined for, but are too high up on my ankles and made of questionable materials are on their way out. Also gone is the MMM x H&M oversized sweater that I wore once and decided was too fashun for my mundane life. It’s the ‘get rid of stuff you don’t like to make room for stuff you love’ adage at work. I call this balance. Balance is good.
All that aside, I don’t think I’ve ever loved a pair of boots as much as I love this pair of boots. They’re fucking perfect. PERFECT. Beautiful leather, proper chunky heel, nicely padded insole, and the split vamp in front to give the illusion of a longer leg? ME LOVE YOU LONG TIME.
