A couple of weeks ago, I got to flex my fashion blogger muscles while schmoozing it up in a way that surprised even me. The lovely folks over at Hudson Jeans invited me to The Colony to fawn over drool over preview the spring styles while sipping on pink grapefruit vodka drinks (dudeguy, forgive me), rubbing elbows with Ben Taverniti and Peter Kim (WHAT?!!), catching up with and meeting more of the LA fashion pack, and eating some of the best hors d’oeuvres I’ve ever had.
Two words: lobster.ceviche. More words: brie.and.pear.quesadillas.
SWEET MINTY JESUS.
Ah, but delicious mini foods aren’t the point of this post. The point of this post is to remind people everywhere that if you run an image-based blog you should probably bring your camera out with you to document things…then again, I would have found it quite difficult to snap pictures while sipping my drank…ok, that isn’t really the point either. I’m here to talk denim. Glorious, glorious denim.

As a few of you may know, I used to slang jeans (and shamefully…Ed Hardy and Monarchy t-shirts) at a little store by the name of Metropark. As such, I’m very, very fond of premium denim and the Hudson brand. Being able to see the line in such an intimate setting was like going to Disneyland; experiencing the cuts, the details, the washes, the unexpected (and freakin’ sweet) non-denim pieces that were featured with the jeans…pure magic.
I…borrowed…the top two pictures from Neekoh of Live, Love, LA. We bonded over that jacket on the left. That jacket is the sex and its acquisition is my next mission from God. The tank on the right has arm holes at the top and bottom. You know how I love multiple arm holes in my clothing.

This season, Hudson is featuring four capsule collections. DIY, Minimal, and Subversive rightfully catch the eye with subtle and not so subtle deviations from the denim norm (see: corset lacing and thigh high zippers above), but the OMG Cat moment of the night came when I was introduced to the Resurrection collection. An individual pair of these jeans is a one-of-a-kind hand-sewn patchwork of archival denim and uses up to six pairs of jeans to produce. Typical for me to favor the most expensive items in the room (each pair retails close to $1,000), but GAWD, you should have seen these jeans. Each is truly a work of art.
*this is where I lament further about not bringing my camera and yield to the results Google provides*

SO.GOOD.
I really, really want to go on, but I’ll save my gushing for the future and tell you to look out for Hudson’s spring line soon at Barney’s - the internets tells me that they should be stocked in the near future. If I make it to a brick and mortar location, I’ll be sure to take plenty of pictures. =D

A HUGE thank you to Jessica for inviting me out, a fist-bump to Dina for being an awesome guide and lots of love to the teams at Hudson and The Colony for putting on a great event!

You look fantastic in that photo! Second, lobster ceviche is my life. They’ve got a GREAT ceviche at Senor Fish if you’re ever interested.
I don’t usually sport jeans, but I’ve definitely liked the look of Hudson. Maybe I’ll give them a try.
All I got out of this was “lobster ceviche.” Nicely done
XX,

You could have ended the post with lobster ceviche and I’d still satisfied. But then I wouldn’t have seen the Resurrection jeans, which are crazy awesome. Now, who’s lending me $1K?

I used to have this pair of skinny black Hudsons — seriously, I’d give my right arm for another pair but I just can’t seem to find them…
