Almost no one is immune from these harsh economic times.  In spring of 2009, photographer Jordan Matter went on a mission to explore the impact of the recession on the arts.  What resulted was Dancers Among Us

For many artists, one’s craft and identity are often indistinguishable.  What they do is who they are.  But what happens once an artist is no longer employed in their specific craft?  Do they lose a part of their identity?  Can they still be considered artists?  In this series, photographer Jordan Matter answers these questions with stunning stills of members of the Paul Taylor Dance Company in everyday situations.  For these subjects, dance is not just a hobby or hustle; it makes  up the very fiber of their being.

“This speaks to the power of a passionate life; if you’re fully invested in something, it is always with you.”    – Jordan Matter

I love a good photography project.  This one is dedicated to my ace, Duckey Mangina.  ;)

These images are AMAZING! Those individuals are very talented and I have much more respect for this profession. It is definitely an art and a talent to be able to exhibit something like this.
