Feb 01instant vintage : 02.2010 : …reality/tv… (moment of vanity)
So, I’m slowly learning what does and doesn’t work on my body type.
Ok, replace “I’m slowly learning” with “Dudeguy has been criqituing my short, a-line dresses and skirts with wreckless abandon in an attempt to teach me via negative reinforcement…”
Either way, I’m falling in love with long, boxy dresses. Some thanks is due to Zana Bayne, whose shape is not far from my own and who also has a penchant for long, boxy dresses. Thank blog for her, because I really wasn’t understanding how a longer dress on my stubby-Chinoise legs was making sense. I thought more leg = illusion of height. Apparently not.
(side note: I know I’ve said this before, but what works on _____ the blogger does not automatically work on you…especially if said person is tall and thin as hell and you…aren’t. Lesson paid for and learned…several times over. Ugh.)
With a bit of internet stalking and a stroke of luck (read: SNIPING), I won this Thakoon dress on eBay last month for $50. Something tells me Thakoon goes for much more than $50 in a retail setting, but I really wouldn’t know. Or care. I’m happy because the dress is a beautiful color, has great texture, is nice and boxy, and is long enough for me to not have to worry about giving people a free show featuring my boy-brief Hanes when I bend over.

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

Clearly, I watch too much television. I need to get back in the lab.

nice find.
i think you look adorable.
xo chauss
p.s. i dont think you have stubby legs.(?)
really.
and if u think so, heels. that’s the trick.
not wedges, real heels.

That dress looks terrific on you. I know what you mean about the short legs! I have short legs too.. weird long torso so I seem taller when sitting..
BUT YES! Not a single body is designed the same, so we all have to realize what we look best in. Indeed, just because one blogger rocks them doesn’t mean they all can! (I love harem pants, but … they make me look short, and I’m probably just going to sell the new pair I bought =_=)
“Thank blog” ahaha.. XD

you rock no matter what you put on!
i love this dress on you…:)

You look great – that dress is an amazing shade of blue! What a great steal (I have no idea what Thakoon retails for either, but I’m sure it’s over $50!).

Cool dress; I like the seam details and the color looks great on you. But what tops off the outfit are your great expressions! Love it!
I’m another one that has to be dragged kicking and screaming into what actually looks right on me, so don’t feel bad there. But for me, it’s those A-line dresses! Send those bad boys my way! :3 And that blue looks a-mazing on you, by the way.

I’ll have to “borrow” Dudeguy’s methods. The blue looks A-mazing on you and for $50 bucks… owwwww!
i (don’t really) hate you.
b/c you got super awesome dressness for $50.
and that you don’t have to wear said super awesomedressness with tights and more tights and boots and a sweater and a parka b/c it’s NOT sub-zero where you live…
oh…dehydration. dunno. never fainted before. it was way too crowded and hot and i’d been drinking before and probably should have gone home anyway. instead, i decided to RAGE MORE. and pass the fuck out. apparently, i banged my head on the counter before i fell. and when i got up, my first words were ‘my face hurts…’. i remember nothing.

oh, by the way, the dress suits you great. jolie-laide’s blog mentions something very similar about buying clothing that fits your body type vs what fits this awesome blogger’s body.
so my new goal is actually to just stick to the pants that i have been wearing and trying to see if i can find stuff that compliments my top.
yeah, it was also news to me that shorter skirts do not equal longer legs. lol. sucks.

I love the dress, and love Thakoon. Don’t own any of his pieces (yet) but he was adorable in The September Issue, and seems worth supporting.

That is a damn cool dress- just unique enough to interesting, but still wearable, you know? I think… a mohawk (or fauxhawk) would complete this outfit!

It looks as though you have sniping taking care of, but if not, BidBall.com is a free sniping service that you can use.
Also, as far as eBay buying goes, and a couple more ideas:
1. Something that might be worth trying is searching eBay for listings that have main key words misspelled in the title. Sites like ebuyersedge.com (typojoe.com, etc) will search ebay for common misspellings of keywords you enter.
Most searchers will never see these misspelled listings, reducing the competition and most likely ending price.
(1.5. Set up saved ebay searches) Ebuyersedge also gives you the option of saving your favorite searches, then sending you an email when an item is listed matching one your saved searches, giving you a jump on other potential buyers.
This works best with ‘Buy It Now’s, but is also effective with auctions.
2. Whenever you send a question to a seller, use the “Ask a question” link that is on a page of another item they’re selling that you’re not interested in.
3. Maybe send the seller an offer to end an auction early. All they can do is say no.
That dress is awesome!! The colour is perfect on you. And can you please tell me when the Rupaul Drag show is going to be on so that I can watch it?? I’m dying to see at least one episode before I leave the country.
