instant vintage : 12.2009 : …and I’m back… (Moment of Vanity)
Christmas brought me a much needed 4-day vacation to the country (pictures later!), the pleasure of meeting dudeguy’s family, lots of good food and freshly baked cookies of all sorts, and a ton of memories.
I also came home to a non-working refrigerator full of three trash bags’ worth of spoiled food, the overwhelming smell of uncleaned litter boxes and the belief that the adorable little kitten that we found out back may have starved to death in our absence (we saw him again the next day – w00t!).
Praise Jah that dudeguy takes care of the dirty work. I would have just gone to my mama’s house and pretended that everything was okay until it magically somehow was.

Wearing
thrifted vintage bomber
F21 dress
American Apparel leggings
Steve Madden shoes
This dress seems to be getting a fair amount of wear for something I was thisclose to depositing at Hoodwill (seen last here). This time, I wore it backwards with the zipper pull of ridiculousness in plain view. The bomber is a long-standing favorite courtesy of the aforementioned store. The shoes actually come with a funny story, but it falls on the WAY TOO MUCH side of TMI and would involve me airing some information about the ex-fiance that I probably wouldn’t want floating around the internet….sorry.

Is everyone glad this year is nearly over? Anyone excited about prospects for the new year? Tell me. I want to do an artsy post about people’s hopes and dreams and shit.
I’m SERIOUS. TELL ME!!! Let’s be more interactive in the new year. Let’s start now!
I’m looking forward to taking my side hustle WAY more seriously, integrating blue-black into my hair color scheme, planning to move to San Francisco, travelling to Paris, and watching the LAST SEASON of Lost and the second season of RuPaul’s Drag Race (if you aren’t watching the latter show, YOU ARE MISSING LIFE).
Now you!

Aw, sorry to hear about your fridge, but sounds like you had a fabulous time away! Love your nailpolish, dress and jacket!! Yes, I’m contemplating sharing my list of resolutions/hopes on my blog in case I’m lazy and don’t accomplish any of them! I think the biggest resolution for me is to complete a screenplay- moved out to LA to do it so I really need to get on that! xo, Mel

I want to have a good semester at university and I am excited at the prospect of finding a new job so I can *finally* have money. I am also excited to start working in the lab (microbiology) for my fourth year thesis project coming this Fall 2010. In short, I’m excited to see that years of education might actually pay off into something more substantial

I feel like I’m waking up from my blog visiting slumber. Love your new format! And those leopard print peep-toe shoes are fab. Sounds like you have a busy year ahead of you! I want to travel more this year, save some moola for my sister’s wedding and start my novel (after talking a big game over the past few years) in earnest. OH and do more outfit posts.

I have those shoes and I love them!! some of the best shoes I ever bought.
Next year I really want to spend more time volunteering. I feel like I get so caught up in my own personal goals that I forget to give back to those less fortunate. We all do, in my opinion!

I LOVE RU PAUL’S DRAG RACE! HOW CAN I SEE THE SECOND SEASON – DID I NISS IT? OR IT HASNT AIRED YET? YOU BETTA WORK IT!!!!

Yeah that fridge, no bueno, I would have let dudeguy handle it too. I’m excited for your motivation with your business. You are very talented and I see it being a huge hit! This San Fran move… is a fallacy, you can’t leave! To live and die in LA! LOL!
I can feel it in my bones that 2010 will be way better than “crappy” yet bearable 2009. I too would like to take my business more seriously in expanding into stores, find a new job, get a new car, and a new apt. I’d like to hit up NY, never been. It’s gonna happen. Success awaits us!

I love the aqua nailpolish.
& i cannot even beleive it is almost new years. 2010!? a decade ago seems like yesterday. Next year I want to persue a new hobby, like makeing candles. i want to get back into writing. update my astrological charting software. get a Toyota Yaris. be happier with my body. and be even more frugal than I already am ( i somehow overdrafted when buying presents!)
I wish you luck with your new year’s wishes!

Cute outfit – love the shoes!
Moving to San Fran…*tear*
I want to focus on expanding my side hustle as well. Complete a sprint triathlon. And become a little bit more balanced.

Alls I gotta say is that if I were in SanFran, I’d be giving dudeguy a run for his $$$! The outfit was quite fierce. Loving the backwards dress (what a novel idea), the leggings, and of course the shoes (I’m a sucka for cornrows and manicured toes)!
My resolve for 2010? Be more about my Father’s business, be more about starting my business, and mind my own cotton-picking business! Oh, and prayerfully do a study-abroad in London

Love the outfit! As for 2010, I am dreaming big and planning to actually live the creative thoughts instead of just think about them. I want to finish my children’s book, take a beach vacation and continue to appreciate the little things.

my mom got me shoes just like those! moms are great for shoe buying and hiding out! i will tell you what lady, this year did a number on me. i am so over 2009, you would not believe. you have an ex-fiance so maybe you would. but i have an ex husband so i would still win. this year– positive attitudes about everything. healthy relationships with everyone. things that make me happy. no more energy vampires allowed.
though 2009 did give me a wonderful internet/blog friend– HAPPY NEW YEAR PRETTY LADY!!!

For 2010, I’m envisioning more fiscal responsibility, more international (and stateside) travel, getting better at staying in touch with people, nurturing friendships I have, getting out of my apartment more often and meeting new people, better meals, more baking, and pursuing photography and writing with more verve and vigor.
I’m glad 2009 is thisclose to being over. It’s been a hard year on myself and my family. (2008 was pretty rough too. Humph.) I’m ready for a new year and a new decade. Yup.
Love your outfit, by the by. The hair’s killer.

Ugh about the fridge, but yay the kitty was ok!
Also, you look super hot. I second the comment about amazing gams.
My words for 2010 and growth and freedom, and that about sums it up. I’d like to travel more, work on making my blog the best it can be, and become more financially independent – my goal is that by the end of the year, Matt & I will have worked on our business ventures enough to be able to not work outside the home. (Holy run on sentence, Batman!) I want to keep up with doing yoga every day and meditating regularly because it makes me feel good. Stress less, be more appreciative, all that jazz.
Happy New Year’s, Alicia!

Whoa, you’re looking awfully hoochified (in a good way) in the leather and leopard! Gurlwhatyonameis?
I’m working on a post about my 2010 goals (I don’t do resolutions anymore) right now–it mainly involves developing a more focused personal brand and working on my side hustle.
Oh, and thanks for the offer to inflict bodily harm upon an unknown stranger on my behalf. It won’t be necessary, but I definitely feel the love *sniff*!
