…and I’m back…

Christmas brought me a much needed 4-day vacation to the country (pictures later!), the pleasure of meeting dudeguy’s family, lots of good food and freshly baked cookies of all sorts, and a ton of memories.

I also came home to a non-working refrigerator full of three trash bags’ worth of spoiled food, the overwhelming smell of uncleaned litter boxes and the belief that the adorable little kitten that we found out back may have starved to death in our absence (we saw him again the next day – w00t!).

Praise Jah that dudeguy takes care of the dirty work.  I would have just gone to my mama’s house and pretended that everything was okay until it magically somehow was.

Wearing
thrifted vintage bomber
F21 dress
American Apparel leggings
Steve Madden shoes

This dress seems to be getting a fair amount of wear for something I was thisclose to depositing at Hoodwill (seen last here).  This time, I wore it backwards with the zipper pull of ridiculousness in plain view.  The bomber is a long-standing favorite courtesy of the aforementioned store.   The shoes actually come with a funny story, but it falls on the WAY TOO MUCH side of TMI and would involve me airing some information about the ex-fiance that I probably wouldn’t want floating around the internet….sorry.

Is everyone glad this year is nearly over?  Anyone excited about prospects for the new year?  Tell me.  I want to do an artsy post about people’s hopes and dreams and shit.

I’m SERIOUS.  TELL ME!!!  Let’s be more interactive in the new year.  Let’s start now!

I’m looking forward to taking my side hustle WAY more seriously, integrating blue-black into my hair color scheme, planning to move to San Francisco, travelling to Paris, and watching the LAST SEASON of Lost and the second season of RuPaul’s Drag Race (if you aren’t watching the latter show, YOU ARE MISSING LIFE).

Now you!

…season’s greetings…

Merry Christmas, y’all!!!

(these are SO going to be the cards I send out next year)

…I’m so typical…

Capricorns are the type to wear heels on weekdays, red lipstick in the daytime and pack all their worldly belongings in a minuscule clutch. They are romantics who fall in love with pea coats and dainty lingerie each time they pass a store window but are practical enough to know their budget. The LBD would be the perfect signature for the Capricorn style; it evokes simplicity and dignity and commanding respect. Artistic yet conservative, most put their efforts into looking put together and appropriate for the occasion with perhaps a few ‘buttons undone’ so to speak. To quote another astrologer “a Capricorn dances on the edge of the cliff but never falls“.

Caps…our birthdays are coming up.  What are you doing?  What should I be doing?  I NEED IDEAS!!!!!

…one reason I Love L.A…

We have the hearts of guys with platinum & pink hair, stacks of bangles and Hello Kitty, sheer cardigans, and an appreciation for people who haven’t become the lemmings and lambs of corporate-run glossies.  Sammy K., welcome to MY ARMY.

“I think that generally passionate people are more expressive and have more to say about life, not just fashion.”

Damn right, yo.

Oh, you thought my little vacay was going to keep me from posting?  NATCH!  I’ve got posts scheduled through Christmas Eve/Day.   =D

…things last weekend taught me…

  • A proper black leather handbag is a magical thing.
  • Completed DIY projects are soothing to my soul, wallet and psyche.
  • Cookie-cutter shit is becoming more and more annoying.
  • I’d rather look interesting than look sexy…but I’ll take interestingly sexy any day (thx ‘Nanaclipse)
  • If given the opportunity to graze instead of being fed once a day, a cat can gain one pound a day.  Persephone, slow down.

seph

  • I really can’t go in to Hotel de Ville without spending money (it was for a gift this time, I swear).
  • Doing laundry sucks and takes WAY too long.
  • I am in need of a vacation…and will be gone until Sunday.  W00T!!!

I seem to be completely unable to post on a consistent schedule.  I don’t think I ever will be, so thank you for putting up with my shit.  I love you guys.  Really.  =D

I FINALLY got around to giving a pair of jeans the Tay Trong treatment.  These will be on perpetual sample status because I should have started with a larger size of something straight legged as opposed to my actual size in skinnies.  Although they passed the “be seen in public walking for hours on end without ripping” test, they also did VERY well in the “making my right thigh mimic an opened tube of biscuit dough” test.  Not exactly a good look.  They are prettyfuckincool though.  Hell to put on and odd to take off, but prettyfuckincool.

Wearing:
Thrifted jacket
F21 cardigan & jeans (well, before I…altered…them)
Vintage Brigade Rosse shirt
Colonial Madness boots
handmade beanie

All of today was spent prepping for our road trip up to NorCal for Christmas.  There was WAY too much walking involved but I did come away with this quilted army green jacket from a stop over at le Good-weezy.  I got a black dress that I plan on altering, too.

I seem to have the DIY fever.  Catch the wave, yo.

Gotta go pack now.  You guys have a kickass holiday…or whatever else you plan on doing this week.  If it involves eating, save me a plate.  Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanks!

I’m super-geeked about two things:

  1. these photos are making me feel like I can grow up to be a photographer
  2. my haircut makes hat-hair look somewhere between acceptable and freakin’ sweet

…hey Alex…

Alex Chapman from Stylelikeu.com

Cut out loafers + DIY Margiela hair jacket + plastic orange clutch = newest draftee to the DANDYMAN ARMY.

How adorable is he?  You know he and Hunter are buds, right?

You can totally tell now that I’ve told you that, huh?

UPDATE:  I just revieved the kiss of life from this video…and Alex looks like he would fit.right.in.

Quote me on this:  If I ever make it out to New York, I will make it a point to track down and subsequently photograph all of these men in the Dandy Files.  ALL OF THEM.

…things last weekend taught me…

  • Dermablend concealer is magic in a tube
  • rain sucks, but running through it with your mom is extremely fun
  • I’d rather have a root canal than wake up early on Sunday
  • dudeguy has a much better eye for proportion and shape than I do
  • 2012 wasn’t as terrible as I thought it would be…because Chewy is in it
  • I’m finally learning how to control my hysteria (w00t!)
  • I need to take more risks
  • after the marathon this weekend, I’m sure I’ve seen every episode of Law & Order: CI
  • waking up is HARD.TO.DO.

DSC_2361

after months of dodging, I finally took up the challenge to post a photo sans makeup…and went WAY left.

This is me when I wake up in the morning; disoriented, slightly congested, in dire need of a cup of tea, and a general hot ass mess.  It’s amazing what the aforementioned concealer, powder, groomed eyebrows, and a flat iron can do.  PRAISE JAH!

UPDATE: Per your request, here is a blurry after shot.  I’ll post a proper before and after sometime in the future.  =D

…be inspired…

Zana Bayne from Stylelikeu.com

There is no way in hell that I wasn’t posting Zana’s video the second after I watched it.  No.Friggin.Way.  She’s totes my bliggity-blog idol.

*She knows I’m a fan-girl, guys.  We’re cool, I swear. *

…nighttime rambling…

Umm…pardon my dust?

I told you guys…I’m never satisfied.  But this should be the last layout tweaking I do for a while (which probably has no validity or meaning whatsoever since I say it so much).  Ugh.  I have no cred.  LOL.

I got my camera lens today – IT’S FREAKIN’ SWEET.  Thank Jah for end of the year bonuses (bonii?) and the no-tax sale at Samy’s.  UPDATE: It’s the Nikkor 50mm 1.8D lens.  Tomorrow will mark the acquisition of the Flip camera and the circle will nearly be complete.

*cue tented fingers and evil super-genius laughter*

I plan on acting a damn fool in 2010 if you couldn’t put all of this nonsense together.  You hear me?  A GAT DAMN FOOL.
