instant vintage : 11.2009 : MOV 006: Feeling Dries-y (Moment of Vanity)

I would like to believe that Danny Lee’s video of Taz Arnold had no influence on my outfit this morning, but that would be a lie. I would also like to think that I am exempt from fawning over higher fashion houses, but that would also be a lie.
I know I don’t mention designers on here much, but I really, really, REALLY dig Dries Van Noten. The colors, the prints, the mish-mashing of it all…the pictures of the runway shows are simultaneous sensory and inspiration overloads for yours truly. Looking at his clothes always makes me want throw caution to the wind and find some way to make “arguing” prints work in one outfit. Seeing Taz, no stranger to clashing prints and colors himself, in the video yesterday officially forced my hand.

Somehow, it worked. It just did. In my mind. Now I’m left wondering why I don’t do this more often…we’ll have to change that.

Feast your eyes upon MY TACO:

Korean BBQ Taco from the Bool BBQ Truck. GET A PIECE!!!
These things (along with cookies, lemon bars, brownies, Trader Joe’s Organic Toaster Pastries, and orange juice) have been keeping me alive this week. I think I’m malnourished.
Yeah, definitely malnourished.

I like the way you wore the prints! Lookin good!

I think this works really well – probably because there aren’t huge blocks of patterns, but rather accents here and there. You did a fabulous job on this outfit!

The lucite heels are a lovely touch for that outfit…
I love Dries, too, although the prices ouch and sometimes the silhouettes are a bit too “old lady” for me. But timeless and different. Especially the manipulation of ethnic prints and the easy silhouettes of his stuff. The textures are especially rich.
Korean tacos. This trend started after I left LA/Cali in 97… Interesting stuff!

I was going to comment on your outfit because I LOVE Dries, but then I saw the taco and got all distracted.
I am so jealous of you people (yeah, I said it) living in places where Korean BBQ food trucks are a way of life. It’s so unfair! *runs out of room and slams door 90210 style*
