Aug 19instant vintage : 08.2009 : Checking In… (Uncategorized)

I’ve been away…buried in bird claws, getting my ish together for a cruise this weekend, and lazily checking emails.

My bad.

Tonight was well spent with some of the greatest people in the blogosphere.  My idol WendyB and Mr. B, Sister Wolf of Godammit, I’m Mad, Lucrecia of Fashion Is Poison, Sue of Une Femme d’un Certain Age, Stef of Sideshow by the Seashore, Liz, and another Stef met up at Palermo in Los Feliz for family-style Sicilian food and alcohol.  Good times.  Very good times.  At the end of some very stimulating and hilarious conversations on TMI, business relationships, metallic leather at weddings, and summoning the local authorities re: missing luggage, I’ve settled on giving WendyB my unused engagement ring to turn into something more…useable…

I’m excited at the prospect.  I’m tenting my fingers as I type this.  Not really, but you get the idea.

Oh…I also find out that my hair actually does something different from the plume thing that we’ve all gotten so used to.  YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY.

    I read today in the Lucky September issue that you can put abrown paper bag cut into large squares with an iron over in on low heat to de-wrinkle leather and suede. Haven’t tried it yet.

    omg, FINALLY UPDATES!!! Ive been twitchin like a fiend over here. I love the outfit. fantastico. re: leather wrinkles, take it to a leather repair store, maybe a regular dry cleaner or try this:
    Here’s some useful info from a leather coat site:

    “A wrinkled garment can be hung in the bathroom while you shower. If the wrinkles don’t steam out by themselves, gently iron the garment at a warm setting after layering clean brown paper between the iron and the leather. Store your leather garment in a well-ventilated area and cover with a cloth to keep it dust free. Avoid storing your leather garment in plastic. Leather is porous and it needs to “breathe”.”

    OR: Take your leather jacket to a professional cleaner. Since leather is so expensive, it’s worthwhile to have it professionally cleaned. The cleaner will most likely steam clean the jacket to remove the wrinkles.

    This is how I got the wrinkles out of my prom dress…maybe it will work.
