Possible Hiatus…

Ok, this isn’t what it looks like…

Right now,  Mount Wilson is on fire.  Not only is this the home of one of the most famous and important telescopes in the world, the place where it was discovered that the universe was expanding, the Big Bang, and other you know…unimportant scientific things; built on the backs of burros trudging up and down a  lone road to construct the massive looking glasses; the home of the solar telescope…not only is it home to the Angeles National Forest, one of LA’s only sources of actual, native trees (NOT PALMS)…not only is it the place where you can actually see the true color of the sky and the actual smog barrier that is sitting on top of my city…it’s also the place where ALL of LA’s radio and television transmissions come from.

FUCK YOU MANDATORY DIGITAL TRANSFER!!!

Sorry, I’m still bitter.  Anyway, I’m looking at the camera on top of the Observatory on my computer right now, and all I can see is towers and a shit load of smoke.  If those towers go out, I won’t have access to anything…no radio, no television, no internet.  DONKEY BALL SUCKAGE.

Yeah, I also just learned that an animal rescue farm is in the way of the wildfires.  Great.  Fucking great.

Out of all the loss of life this year, I am definitely most depressed about this.  I hope these winds change.  I really do.

WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!

I am in the devil’s ass right now.  It’s currently fire season in SoCal and the smoke combined with 100+ heat every damn day is making me miserable.  MISERABLE!  I was forced to wear this dress on Friday while accessorizing with weed-smoker red eyes and a runny nose.  How chic.  LOL.  I called it my “Lil’ House on the Prairie gone horribly wrong” look.

Now for random bits of superfluous info:

- I’m finally restocking Talonalia today

- I am in dire need of a haircut

Forever 21 is now selling faux leather pants and I think I want a couple of pairs

- Something is making me want a fur vest and those damn Atacoma wedges…I’ve yet to figure out what

- I didn’t forget about the giveaway…swears

- I found the BEST Chinese place around the corner from my house.  You can eat for three days for $4.25

- I’m using this entry to put off collecting things for Goodwill

DAMN!  I could have held out longer, but now that I’ve written it down, I’m compelled to go sort stuff.  Hope you guys had a good weekend.  Tell me stories if you did something interesting.  =D

F21 bustier thingy, Chain Earrings

I’ve finally added some new stock to the etsy store and took a better picture of these earrings…while doing so, I realized that I need a tripod.  The balancing act I pulled on my dresser with a rolled up pillowcase supported by a small, wooden picture frame is not the business.  Not at all.

“Zoom” has been on repeat all damn day in my world.  Sure I love this song, but Lionel Richie’s afro in the “video” is giving me life.

I’d like to fly far away from here…

GET SOME!

I will not apologize for stanning for Uncle Karl. No, I will not.

I hear Alexa Chung is somewhere in this video, too.  Who knows? The sparkly silver fingerless gloves of amazingness at 5:00 blinded me to everything that wasn’t He of the Silver Ponytail.

I’m On a Boat!

Well, not yet…

Checking In…

I’ve been away…buried in bird claws, getting my ish together for a cruise this weekend, and lazily checking emails.

My bad.

Tonight was well spent with some of the greatest people in the blogosphere.  My idol WendyB and Mr. B, Sister Wolf of Godammit, I’m Mad, Lucrecia of Fashion Is Poison, Sue of Une Femme d’un Certain Age, Stef of Sideshow by the Seashore, Liz, and another Stef met up at Palermo in Los Feliz for family-style Sicilian food and alcohol.  Good times.  Very good times.  At the end of some very stimulating and hilarious conversations on TMI, business relationships, metallic leather at weddings, and summoning the local authorities re: missing luggage, I’ve settled on giving WendyB my unused engagement ring to turn into something more…useable…

I’m excited at the prospect.  I’m tenting my fingers as I type this.  Not really, but you get the idea.

Oh…I also find out that my hair actually does something different from the plume thing that we’ve all gotten so used to.  YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY.

At the Edison…

The usual suspects and I gussied up and went out last night for (more than) a few rounds of drinks and some super swanky bar food at the Edison in Downtown L.A.  Being the self-professed drink snob that I am, I was leery about this place; too much hype around an LA bar can be a very bad thing for the DQ’s: drink quality and douchebag quotient of the staff and bartenders.  After last night, I can put my stamp of approval on it.  =D  Aside from the occasional eyeball from the hostesses (HAAAAAAAAAAA!), the bartenders were cool, drinks were on point (with only minor coaching on how to make my whiskey cocktail), the food was AMAZING, and the decor (LAWD JESUS the decor!!) was something to marvel at.  Can’t say that I’ve been in a redesigned factory this nice, and I’m counting the days until I go back.

But enough of us, let me tell you about the food…

You know what, I can’t even really tell you how good this damn bar food was.  It was ridiculous.  Lobster corn dogs with creme fraiche?  Truffle macaroni and cheese?  REALLY?!?  I don’t think I ate one thing I didn’t like.  They even fresh bake chocolate chip cookies and serve them warm with a glass of milk.

sweet potato fries, wings, and truffle mac and cheese…

Ok, this…THIS…right above these words here…THIS is called the Elvis.  I like to call it ‘Sex on a Hot Plate.’  Grilled peanut butter & banana sandwich with caramel sauce.  When I tell you that I had to pause mid-bite just to make sure I was still on this earth and not on a cloud somewhere being overloaded with every pleasurable sense imaginable, you should believe me.  Because I did.  Swear.

After all of this, a couple of meatballs, some baked apple rings, kobe sliders, a whiskey cocktail and a manhattan (not necessarily in that order), I was pretty much done for the night.  Enough of that ’special dark’ gets me pretty sleepy.  Last night was no exception.

WHAM!

I lucked up on a video camera. Get in on the goodness…and turn your speakers down for the first 3 seconds or so…

I GOT A CAMERA!!

What say you all???

In other news, the Achillean has moved to new digs and interviewed me in the process.  CHECK IT.

It must be August again…

I am really bad when it comes to the concept of time.  Now I don’t mean that I can only function on “CP time” (how dreadful), but I really don’t have a working internal method of keeping track of time.  Days tend to run together and I have no idea of when things happened.  It’s the strangest thing…

In spite of this, today (Saturday, right?) I realized that autumn is on the brink of beginning.  Sure It won’t feel like it until around November, but at least it’s coming.  This heat has been giving me the blues and I really, really, really want to wear things that aren’t tank tops.

Today, I spent a good deal of (time/money/choose your own adventure) in American Apparel.  As most of my mini-sprees go, it was prompted by a bad attitude that was prompted by dudeguy  who was NOT respecting my conglomerate…RUDE!

*confession: this is the first time I’ve listened to this song…hell, I didn’t even know it was a song…*

I was careful not to go too crazy…sort of.  I mean, I have a closet that is in dire need of paring and impulsive spending is SO not the business.

I went in looking for a swimsuit and ended up walking away with two tri-blend raglans and some crazy cloud print leggings.  I guess autumn isn’t coming quickly enough for my subconscious…or I just can’t help giving money to Dov and the gang.  Not complaining either way.

If anyone was wondering, those particular leggings are more than able to function as pants.  Somehow the pattern makes them less offensive and the material keeps the ass-jiggle to a minimum.  WIN.

Oh, and those raglans are the best sweatshirts in the history of ever.  I threw one on to the fitting room pile just to try it out and was immediately smitten with the fit and feel.  I debated between those two colors and ended up saying “fuck it, I’ll get both.”  I doubt I’ll regret it.

UPDATE: I couldn’t wait to play dress up.  These are officially the “wonder leggings” and I have now recognized the influence that Susie Bubble has on my life at this moment.   See…there’s that subconscious working.
