  • I will be there with camera
  • I will be there with camera
  • I will be there with camera

Who else is going?  What are you wearing?  What am I wearing?  Should I make something?  I kinda want to make something but I think I may need formal training for that…Should I take a sewing class?  Should I improvise?  Do I have any purple or white sequins?

..

….

I’m way too excited.  Can you tell I don’t party much?

UPDATE:

It’s adventurous…and SCREAMING MJ vs Prince party.  Yes I will be improvising the whole thing (assuming I can find fabric like this).  Wish me luck.

Congrats to Ashe Mischeif who will soon be joined by her new scarf.  Enjoy my dear!

vintage shirt, inherited shorts, snakelet and necklace from my store; dejected look

My weekend was absolutely shameful. The most productive thing I did was finish the necklace you see here for the lovely Caress Lepore (I’m sending this your way in the morning, shawty).  Other than that I wound a center-pull yarn ball and slept from 8pm Saturday to about 2pm Sunday.  Blame it on the a-a-a-a-anemia.

Is anyone having a bbq soon?  I’m in dire need of red meat.  Or Feosol.  I’d prefer the red meat.

Remember to get your comments in for the giveaway.  It ends at 5pm!!!

Snakelets, Leather and Neon

Topshop jacket, vintage dress, Amy Appy leggings, Colonial Madness boots, and snakelets.

((The snakes play well together and I am well pleased.  Get them here. ))

The newly dubbed ‘holy grail’ of black ankle boots showed up at my door yesterday much to the relief of my right index finger after having refreshed the UPS tracking page about 3,542 times.  I love these boots.  I love them so much.  The combo of architecture, cutouts, and overall badassery made them worth trading in the Guess boots.  I think I left my UO shopping days behind on a high note.  A very high note indeed.

**in sharp contrast to my earlier rant, if any of you want a 10% discount at UO online, use the code SPRING09 at checkout**

Yesterday also was the day I purchased two of the brightest nail colors in the history of the world.  I was having a pretty fugged up week and thought it better to spend $10 on nail junk than an undetermined amount in American Apparel (retail therapy = credit card use.  BIG NO GO.  I just paid them all off and am in no hurry to charge anything else).

I figured neon would make me feel better and damn if it didn’t.  Orly’s “Chica Boom” is on the left hand and “OMG” is on the right.  If I find a shade of highlighter yellow that I can diddy bop with, the collection will be complete.

I was asked how one integrates neon nails into an outfit.  Let me think about that and get back to you.  In the meantime, here are some great uses of neon clothing:  Susie, Karla, some chick Sarty shot, Sarty’s shot of Susie, Shini, and more Susie.  The Bubbster is so damn sick with it.

Project #1

I’m pretty sure you’ve seen those braided leather snake bracelets and belts that are the brainchildren of Keerstin Wintrup.  If you haven’t, go here, here or here.  Well, I like them.  I like them a whole lot.  The matter of price point, however, became an issue…especially since I’ve been on a DIY/I’m-not-buying-if-I-can-make-it kick.   It was only a matter of time before I tried my hand at crafting a bracelet of my very own.  That time came tonight.

The snake bracelet is MINE!!!!!

Not to be a total knockoff, I decided to crochet the body instead of braiding leather.  Much more up my alley.  =)

You will soon be joined by a friend.

Eat your heart out, K-Dubb.

I’m putting some in the store tonight if you feel so inclined.  Please feel inclined.  If you’d rather the real thing in leather, go here.

Yes, Please…

Hot.Damn.

3-V

My version of Tommy’s…because dudeguy was unavailable to take a picture for me today.  How rude.

Topshop jacket (that a friend of mine apparently left here.  If I don’t hear from her…well, you know…)
Amy Appy Tri Blend tank (will be getting a slew of these)
Vintage & Tiffany necklaces
Citizens Jeans
Max Studio wedges

I officially missed getting the axe.  Yay.  Office politics suck.  Boooooooooooooooo.  Unfortunately, a lot of my friends can’t say the same thing.  It sucks.  It really sucks.  At the moment, I’m glad it’s all over and my hope is that we won’t have to go through it again.  My gut, however, is not as optomistic.  I would try to blame something, but that wouldn’t really make me happy.  A bowl of pho and some “special dark” would.

Mmmmmm…booze and Vietnamese food.  Yummers.

(be)Cause I Love You…

…it’s ANOTHER giveaway!

((cue screaming children))

((on second thought, don’ t cue them))

The lovelies at ChickDowntown.com, e-purveyors of designer clothing galore, shot me an email saying that the awesomeness of the readers of this here blog was so engrossing that they were compelled to give of their beautiful bounty; one of the Tolani scarves to be exact.

Lucky, lucky one of you…

The deets:  since they don’t ship outside of the country, this giveaway is limited to you all in the U.S. (sorry Lenya!!!)  I’m taking entries via comment box until April 27th at 5:00pm.  In said comment box, please tell me what your summer plans are – I’ll be at work, so I have to live vicariously through you and your stories about vacations and camping and music festivals and all that other stuff I wish I could go to.  The winner will be announced on Tuesday, April 28th.

YAY!!!!

Now can you please be more awesome so those Martin Margiela nail heeled booties can show up at my doorstep?  Please?

*sigh*

I tried.

Oh, and congrats to KB, winner of the Honeyroom sunglasses giveaway!!!  I’ll be emailing you shortly.

To the rest of you, feel free to use the code instantvintage to get 15% off of an order of $30 or more.  =)

I was tagged by Ev’Yan a few days ago to post a picture of myself in my element and sans primping.  Since I am in the habit of primping whenever I sense a camera within 5 feet of me, dudeguy was forced to catch me off guard.  Jerk.  I give you the result of his “successful” effort:

Me...in my element

Ooooh, warm filtered black and white photo…snaz-zay!

About 70% of the time I spend at home is doing this right here.  Sitting.  In front of the computer on my messy desk.  Reading, writing, shopping and looking up stuff.  I’m actually doing all of that at this very moment thanks to Google Chrome and its multiplicity of tabs.

So sad.

Or is it??

It’s been a rough couple of days.  They announced layoffs at the yob (yes, YOB) yesterday, and round one was today.  As of right now, I’m still in the “get a check every two weeks” bunch.  Let’s hope I fare as well tomorrow.

To keep my mind off of things, I’m working on a couple of projects which should end in items in my lax as hell newly birthed etsy store.  Think snake-y wrap bracelets and suspenders on steroids.

It’s going to be fun.  And leathery.  Lots of fun and leather.

It's Over

((Random shot of Leonidas to celebrate my 300th post. YAAAAAAAAY!!!))

I’m ending No Buy Month early.  Surprisingly, it’s not because I HAVE to have something and I can’t wait another 2 weeks.  It’s actually because I was able to meet about 6 of my fiduciary goals for the year this month.  Holding out just seemed stupid.  LOL.

Now, just because I wasn’t in dire need of something doesn’t mean I didn’t treat myself.  I did.  Indeed I did.  However, I am glad to report that I’ve decided to go on a new route when it comes to throwing down my cash.

  • I’m done (for the most part) with mass retailers (today, I made my “last” purchase)
  • Any supplemental wardrobe pieces are going to be from indie operations or thrifting

Overall, I think this approach will curb all most of the impulse spending that has defined about 60% of my closet.  Oh joy.

The latest haul: the boots I’ve been mentioning all week and a couple of pairs of earrings from carpedraco’s etsy store.  A huge thank you to Miss Elle of Broke and Beautiful for the heads up!!!

For those of you who have always been fascinated with stretched earlobes, you definitely need to pay carpedraco a visit.  Go quickly.  She’s announced that she’s moving on to other pursuits and will be closing up shop soon.  Not to leave her fans completely disappointed, she’s made shipping free on everything.  Score.

Everything in the store is made of natural wood or bone (great for those of you with metal sensitivity) or is an actual piece of jewelry that has been modified for standard pierced ears.  Genius.   Especially for non-committal with the holes in the body people like me.  Oh, and everything is $15 or less.  Yeah.  LESS.

There is stock left, so go on over.  If you’re confused about how they work, Miss Elle posted a video.

Happy Weekend!
