In Celebration…

…of the 20-30 degree change in temperature that occurs when you go from the northeast to the southwest, I decided to put on the laziest of lazy outfits (read: tank, jeans, floppy shoes).  Because I could.  And because today was a freakin’ beautiful day.  Swear, I sat outside for about 15 minutes just basking in the warmth and (surprisingly) clear blue sky above me.

It feels good to be home.

Yes, I realize I wasn’t smiling, but I was happy.  Trust me.

Wedge Hunting Season

I’ve never wanted to be in San Francisco more than I do right now…ok, that’s a lie, but these are a damn good reason to plan a short vacation.

Day 5 and Day 6

Harlem

Monday.  Spent 5 whole hours in Harlem World with the gracious and beautiful Melinda of Get Togetha.  There is so much that happened that I can’t even remember it all, but trust me when I say that Harlem is worth all of the hype.  Between the museums, Make My Cake,  Zoma (BEST.ETHIOPIAN.FOOD.EVER), Society, Minton’s, Striver’s Row, the Apollo theatre, the people, and the atmosphere, that area is teeming with history and culture.  It was very humbling to walk through.

Very humbling.

Mel, you’re awesome and I am forever grateful that you took the time out to show me around and introduce me to your folks!  I seriously can’t thank you enough for the 5 hours you spent.  Srsly.

Tuesday.  I was supposed to get up with D from The Achillean, but between oversleeping and checking out the east coast office of the yob, I wasn’t able to.  I’m SO sorry, girlie!  Next time, you get first.  I promise!!!

I’m glad to be home, but this trip is going to stay with me for a while.  To all the lovely people who made this trip for me, it was nice to see and meet you all and I can’t wait to go back…especially since I didn’t get to go to Gray’s Papaya (!)

Day 4

Photo via: ata08′s flickr

Slowing down – waking up with horrific hair – lunch at some Irish place that I *really* didn’t think non-Irish people were supposed to be in – steak and shepherd’s pie – walking around Manhattan in surprisingly mild weather – sending Jazzy back to L.A. – meeting up with the gorgeous and lovable Wendy B for pomegranate margaritas and beer at Rose Mexicano (GAWD she’s awesome!) – hot firefighters – winding down after running the streets so much so I can sit down and fill you guys in.

I need a nap.  Seriously. I have two more days of this lined up.  LOL.

day 3

Organic frittata on Spring and Lafayette – shopping around in Soho – ducking into Intermix and wishing I had lots and lots of money – buying a sweater from T5S because it was marked down to $15 – rouge bicycle riders and performance art (HILARIOUS) – lunch with the lovely Danielle of My Urban Glamour at the Cafeteria (DELICIOUS) – more shopping – finally taking the subway alone (AAHH!) and feeling like I mastered NY public transport – hanging out with Jaz and DonWill at Che Grand‘s video shoot – being featured in said video (the results of that should be interesting…)

Today was fun.  Lots of fun.  Many thanks to Danielle for coming out to meet and hang and shop and eat and shop and walk the streets of New York with me!! I had a BLAST. <3 you!  We need to get more mac and cheese before I leave.  For real.

Oooh, can’t wait until tomorrow

Day 2

Photo via: picturecorrect.com

Slept in – party at Foot Locker in Times Square (weird, to say the least) – Kidz in the Hall and Reeboks – FINALLY taking the subway – raspberry mole on shredded chicken enchiladas at Mexican Radio in Soho – margarita pitcher – drooling over gold studded boots (will be going back there to try them on) – lamenting the lack of Topshop – hanging with my cuzzo – Kid Cudi – partying at the Promenade and wishing the club wasn’t the size of a hallway – vodka tonics and Amstel Light – a West Coast music set and 4 VERY happy girls – cabbie with an expired license…

It’s been a long day…more to come.

Side note: I left my camera at home.  I know.  I suck.

the past 10 hours

Photo via: blogs.nationalgeographic.com

GREAT flight on Virgin – playing mah jong and watching Spongebob at 35,000 feet – ridiculous cab fare – Milk & Honey – kobe beef sliders – VOLTRON (aka me and my girls) running the streets – an old man yelling “LOOK AT THE ASS ON HER! HOW DOES SHE WALK WITH THAT THING?  IT’S AMAZING” – Jaz informing us that “you can’t pee in Brooklyn” – running in traffic – cabs with talking screens that have cabbies that barely speak english – lamenting about my lack of a Blackberry and limited access to Twitter – plotting and planning – bright lights and shiny things.

I can’t wait to go play.

Best.Kid.Ever.

Meet Arlo Guthrie Weiner.

I won’t post his pictures here (mostly because my tweeples know how I feel about posting pictures of a child on the internet), but he is KILLING IT.

He’s adorable, all of 8-years-old, and sick with it when it comes to style.  And he doesn’t have a blog.

As he shouldn’t.

New Shit!

Well, kind of.

I picked up my new specs last night from mom’s house.  There’s something about a new pair of glasses that really gets me excited.  These are a little bigger than the last pair and I think they make my head look smaller.  Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice.

I also managed to whip up a beanie for my New York trip and bad hair days.  The one Knight Cat posted ages ago was on my mind, so I tool the yarn left over from the cowl, some black yarn that I keep on tap, and dug into my rather large stash of buttons. This is what came out of it:

Slouchy, button-y, warm goodness.  Loves it.

I’m packing tonight.  All of my e-peeps in NY, don’t be surprised if you get a “where should I go while I’m out here?” email.  I’m looking at you GT, Danielle, Liz, Penn, and WendyB
