Suzie Weatherstorm and Circus Redux
Sorry about the helter skelter post last night. Hopefully I’ll be a bit more coherent this time around. =)
Since Halloween was a total bummer, I made it a point to give this hot pink number some exposure. Kept it simple with a grey tank, slim jeans, and my favoritest shoes. Sarah said I looked like a college news weather girl and called me Suzie Weatherstorm for a good two hours.
Blazer: Thrifted
Tank: Target
Jeans: F21
Shoes: Bakers
Here are the pictures from the circus. I couldn’t take any inside (grrr…), but I got some cool shots of the good folks I went with. And funnel cake. I had to get a shot of the funnel cake.
All in all, it was a cool show. I didn’t get to see elephants this time around, but the Chinese acrobats were superdope, as were the sibling contortionists and the dancers from Trinidad & Tobago. I ended up in the soul train line mid-show. I really wish I had a picture of that. LOL.
Have a good weekend, y’all!

Romper Room
No long strings of words here; it’s too late and I’m so tired.
Today, I wore the “Election Day” outfit I told you about earlier. I also tried to invoke a little bit of “ringmaster” since I went to the circus today yesterday, too. The blazer is really navy with red pinstripe, but you can’t see it. Stupid camera…muddling my patriotism with your off-colored pictures. I had on red, white, and blue damnit!
Blazer & Belt: Thrifted
Romper: $1 Sale
Boots: Aldo
I don’t think I’ve worn these boots since last year. Wow.
So as I mentioned earlier, I went to the circus along with my sister, mother, freakin’ sweet grandma, best friend and her god-child/Jazzy’s son. A good time was had by all. Pictures are forthcoming, but I will leave you one of me and my sister. She’s awesome.
Isn’t she cute?!?!! Her bangs were brand new and they really look nice on her. Aww.

Lamentations…
I was being lazy this morning when I was getting dressed. I had an elaborate “Barack just got elected, so let’s invoke Africa and America” themed outfit in mind, but when it came time to execute it, I just.couldn’t.do.it.
I don’t think I would know how to do it if I had the energy. I hate it when that happens. Maybe if I get an inspiration board…they seem to solve problems like this.
Instead of looking like a total derilict, I thought I would “juj” (how DO you spell that?) my outfit up/hide my lack of giveadamn with my new Roger belt and my not-so-secret dominatrix shoes. Endless thanks to Market Publique & Michelle for leading me to this gold chained wonder.
Shirt: FOTL
Sweater: Thrifted
Jeans: F21
Shoes: Promiscuous
It probably didn’t work, but I really didn’t care. Today was kinda ass anyway. I found those blue stiletto creepers that I want SO BADLY on ebay UK for about $140 less than retail, but the chick selling them doesn’t ship stateside. (!) Doesn’t she know Obama was elected? It’s all about CHANGE, so she should CHANGE her shipping policy. It’s only right to celebrate the new vibrancy of America’s political climate by letting me buy her shoes. At least that how I see it.
*sigh*
Chauss! I need some dark chocolate. STAT!

The Rumors are TRUE!!!
From WWD Online:
Target to Launch McQueen Line
Target in March will launch a new fashion initiative called Designer Collaborations. The program will bring the styles of well-established designers to the mass merchant at typical Target prices. Alexander McQueen is the first on deck and will design a version of his McQ collection called McQ Alexander McQueen for Target. The collection will have rock ‘n’ roll influences and edgy details such as studs and tattoo-print fabrics. Designer Initiative is a separate program from Target’s Go International, which focuses on young or emerging designers. Target said additional Designer Collaborations will be announced in the future. Each collection will be available in stores for a limited time.
——
I heard this a while back and was VERY skeptical, but if WWD says it, I’m drinking the proverbial kool-aid. I’m glad I got enough notice to start myself a Target/McQueen fund.
YEAH JACK!
———-
11/5/08 UPDATE: Susie over at Style Bubble has quelled my excitement at this news. I mean, I know Target was involved so I really shouldn’t have gotten my hopes up as high as I did. But still, this is prettydamncool.

Morning Study
I was feeling artsy (not really because I can do SO much better than this), so I decided to do something a little different with the outfit pic today. Instead of the random shots, I’ve clumped them together to form a study of my typical morning. Please note the confused and tired looks on my face. No the chai did not help.
Cardigan: Target
Shirt: FOTL
Scarf: F21
Jeans: Refuge
Shoes: Colin Stuart
I’ve been so tired lately. I really need to get to bed earlier. Tonight won’t be the night though – I still have propositions to read up on for tomorrow, accounts to reconcile, cats to chide, angry letters to write, and appointments to schedule.
Sometimes I hate being grown. Sometimes.

Halloween 2008 Redux
So, this year’s Halloween was one of the most tedious, exciting, exhausting, aggravating, and enraging days of my life. I mentioned before that people at work go nuckin’ futs at Halloween and all that was expected came to frution: stress level at orange, peope running around like mad everywhere, and my department ultimately winning for set design. So bitersweet.
I’ll level with you now – an insane amount of pictures are in this post ( I tried my best to edit – really). No, I did not get permission to use any of them.
Ok, so that was the crux of my department – Arabian Nights type theme, awesome decor, people dressed accordingly. Fun stuff. There was also a costume fashion show and several other departments to walk through. It was exhausting. More exhausting than doing actual work.
There was quite a bit to see in the other departments:
There was also a haunted maze with evil oracles and doctors hacking people to bits inside of it and a recreation of a past London complete with a murderous barber’s shop. The day nearly culminated with 1984 Prom – Pretty in Pink was on screen, Billy Idol was there (ok, not really), and we took prom pictures and danced to “Like a Virgin” and “She Blinded Me with Science.”
I still can’t believe we did all of this at work. I rue the day I have to help clean up all of this mess. It was fun, though. I can’t tell you how tired I was at the end of it all. Almost too tired to go out later that night, BUT I was too geeked about my costume and had to dress up.
Wig & Thigh Highs: Ozzie Dots
Blazer: Goodwill
Button Down: American Eagle
Dress: American Apparel
Shoes: Promiscuous
That makeup took forever since I didn’t have face paint…really should have planned that a little better. How did I do? If you think I pulled it off, can you please vote for me on the AA site? No obligation. =D

Ok, so I was all ready to go out, called some friends and was set to meet them out on Hollywood Blvd.
WORST.IDEA.EVER.
Not only was traffic horrendous (I was in my car for TWO HOURS when the normal drive is about 15 minutes),but by the time I finally got there, paid to park, and walked three blocks, I was met by a barrage of police officers clearing the entire boulevard.
“Hollywood is closed. Go home.”
“How the fuck do you close a whole city down?” (I was indignant…can you tell?)
“Too many people; they’re getting too rowdy and it’s causing problems, so we’re clearing it out.”
I nearly cried. Seriously. My friends were already at the club and I was stuck outside, alone, and in a minidress with my most hooker of heels on. I should have stayed home. Really. I guarantee I will NOT be headed in that direction come next year. I should have just hung out in Boystown like I’d originally planned. All that damn dressing up and driving for nothing. AARGH!!!
I hope you guys had a better night than I did – Lawd knows I was ready to hit someone. LOL.
So…tell me stories! What of your holiday weekend?
