I Was Chased By A Roach

I’m serious.  No, really.  Seriously.  For Real.  I’m not joking.

Ok, well replace “chased by” with “in the shower when lo and behold I was met unceremoniously with the sight of a three inch water bug that may as well have been.”

Good morning to me.

Do you know what it’s like to be in the most vulnerable position you could ever be in and having one of your worst fears stare you right in the face?  Taunting you?  Mocking you?  Daring you to squish it with either a wet palm or a bare foot? HUH?  DO YOU?!?!?

Sorry.  I really don’t like bugs.  That shit was disgusting.  And it made me late for work.

On to lighter fare – I wore my Roger belt today with thebestdressever that came from the dollar sale. I love that place…so much.  The fabric is waffle-y in texture and very cool indeed.

Vintage Dress: Jet Rag

Belt: New York Vintage

Tights: Target

In addition to the traumatic events of this morning, later in the day I came across something that sent nearly an equal amount of fear through my body:

I’m still shocked that this product actually exists.  I weep for the children.

The Gods Must Be Crazy…

Actually, I’m thinking that I must have gotten on their bad side because I just had to pull an 6″ splinter of wood out of my left index finger.  You should have seen it.  It was epic.  Subsequently, I had to break out a needle, lighter, a cotton ball full of peroxide and pointy ended tweezers to coax the remaining 4 minute pieces of wood it left behind.

How did this happen?  I turned out the light while leaving the bathroom.  That’s.All.   I really wish the story were more exciting.  It isn’t.

Needless to say, I don’t feel like rambling on as usual because my fingertip is now foaming from every hole I had to poke in it.  Here are a couple of low-qual pictures from today:

Happy Monday.

Side note: Vincent from over at Blogging Our Way 2 Bombay has named me one of America’s Next Top Bloggers.  Not sure what that will net me, but hey, it’s nice to be thought of.  Check out the post and vote for yours truly if you’ve nothing else to do.

Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanks, Vincent!

Girl Meets Grunge

Yeah, so I totally swagger-jacked Kirsten Dunst, but I really liked the look.

from the Fashion Spot

Et moi:

Jacket: Thrifted
Cardy: Target
Dress: F21
Boots: Guess

It was a little hot out to be wearing this today, but I think I was able to put the heat out of my mind long enough to make it through.  Believe me when I tell you that jacket was off come high noon.  89 degrees.  This is just shameful.  LOL.

Ok, so last night I went to my father’s company’s 20th anniversary dinner.  To my surprise, my estranged little brother and god-brother were there last night (funny…they both have the same name).  Good times.  I haven’t seen the young one for a little bit, so naturally I was shocked to see that he had grown up and above me.

I did what any big sister would do when faced with that situation: I told him that I would still kick his ass.

It’s true.

Sooooooo, what’s up for the weekend? I might actually have something to do besides going to Jet Rag, so let’s cross our fingers.

Switch

This is going to be a pretty short post because I’m supposed to be on the other side on town in about 18 minutes.

I do actually own a pair of non-skinny jeans and I wore them today.  Played a little with looser shapes, and had a pretty good time doing it.  Enjoy the random fountain picture.  Oh, and have a good night.

Cardy: Target

Dress: Vintage

Jeans: Hudson

Shoes: alice+olivia for Payless

If anyone has the answer, feel free to post it.

Patches

The gods must have smiled on me when I went to Jet Rag a couple of weekends ago.  Yes, I know this stuff has been popping up here and there and that I keep rubbing it in talking about it, but this truly was the coup de gras: a vintage tweed blazer…with elbow patches.

I don’t know what it is about the addition of elbow patches to tweed that makes me feel like I’m a professsor’s aide on a collegiate campus where the buildings are built with bricks and covered in ivy.  Whatever it may be, it’s definitely in this blazer.

Damn I got lucky.

Vintage Blazer: Jet Rag

Shirt: FOTL

Scarf: F21

Jeans: Citizens

Boots: Nine West

And to answer the questions posed in last post’s comments, my main photog is dudeguy in the morning.  Occasionally, one of my friends will step in or I will jerryrig the camera and set the timer.  LOL.  It’s quite a sight to see.

And Vincent, I don’t know Vanessa, but y’all should definitely swing through Los Angeles on your way to Bombay.

Granny’s Vegas Sweater

Well, not my grandma’s (who actually favors skinny jeans and long plaid shirts – how trendy!), but someone’s.  I don’t know who she is or where she’s from, but I’m glad she once owned this sweater so I could have it.  The loud colors garnished with matching sequins and beads are only icing on the cake that is this knitted piece of gloriousness.  *sigh*

It’s love.

Sweater: Nenuca (link @ right)

Scarf: F21

Jeans: American Apparel

Shoes: Emporio Armani

I’m glad I’ve worked up enough of a reputation at work so I can wear this and not look weird.  It’s a great feeling.  LOL.

And to all of you who come here and comment or just look around or even if you came by accident, thank you.  It means a lot.  =)

The Tuxedo…

Pants.

I finally have a pair of tuxedo pants.  I don’t know why I wanted them so badly, but I was damned happy to have found a pair that fit at the $1 sale.

Jet Rag, you have my undying love and devotion.  Seriously.  Without you, I would have never known these cropped beauties with the adjustable waistband and tailor’s notes on the inside.  Nor would I have come to know this waistcoat with the cool buttons and pattern.

Pants/Waistcoat: Jet Rag

Tank: Target

Shoes: Urban Outfitters

Necklace: F21

Happy Monday.  What’s going on this week?  Anything good?

I know artists…

One of my very talented buddies told me he was going to “do something for [me]” a few months back and I didn’t believe him.  When he asked what direction he should go in, I mentioned that I liked Josephine Baker (whom I always refer to as Miss Josephine).

I had nearly totally forgotten about this conversation until today when he presented me with a legal sized folder with this inside:

I love this.  So much.  Youhavenoidea.

My friends are awesome.

Return of the Mackage…

I have been grossly uninformed.  Thank you to the good folks over at Clutch Magazine for opening mine eyes to the beauty, structure, and fabulosity that are these coats.  I need to win the lottery or something because that grey joint and the black coatdress complete with kickass collar are calling my name.

Clutch Feature: Mackage

In the spirit of the fact that everyone with knowledge of this line did not inform me of its existence, I dedicate this song to you all…because you LIED to me…through omission.
