DIY: Melange Jersey Skirt
I finally decided to go ahead and make my own version of the AA Melange Jersey skirt. They ran out of the color I wanted, and they didn’t have it in the color I bought to make it with. I also thought it would have been way too short on me, so this worked out well. I think it came out pretty nicely, no?
It took a little while, but I think it was worth it. $30 is a lot for a skirt this basic (this gripe is what keeps me buying stuff at American Apparel anway), and I need to get as good as my mom was on this sewing machine.
Cardigan: Target
Shirt: I don’t remember
Skirt: DIY
Shoes: Emporio Armani
I know I’m usually kind of bleh on the politics front, but I saw this poster today while coming back from lunch, and I just had to get a picture of it.
I hope you all are registered to vote out there. If not, hurry up because the deadlines are coming up. If you already are, don’t forget to vote. If you don’t manage to make it to the polls, you have no grounds to complain about anything that happenes in that country.

I’ve been tagged again…
Jazzy over at NerdLike.com had TwitterTagged me (strange seeing as how I’m not on Twitter), so I’m obligated to tell you all 6 little known facts about myself.
Think…think..think…
1 – I used to eat Oreo cookies like they were the only thing available to eat. I mean, I used to kill a family sized package of them in one sitting with a glass of milk.
2 – At one point, I and a few friends of mine were backup dancers for a drag queen by the name of Princess Brianna (Duckey – shut up). That was loads of fun.
3 – I used to be in love with Brisco County Jr.
4 – I’m really good at going to school. Graduated high school at 16, USC at 20 and I went back to school for another year at a fashion & design institute. I was summa cum laude and magna cum laude, respectively.
5 – I’ve never worked a job for more than a year and a half. I don’t job hop; situations just work out that way. It looks really bad on my resume, but my saving grace is that they’re all in different industries: technology, merchandising, retail, construction, non-profit, and pseudo-corporate.
6 – I have an irrational “fear” of large groups of small children. They seriously freak me out and i get extremely tense and irritabe when they’re around. I could never be an elementary school teacher.
Now…who do I tag??? I hear the rule is 6 people so I’m looking at Muze, E-Dubb, Get Togetha, Wendy, Arabelle, and chauss because they’re all so very interesting.

What a Weekend
I am tired. So tired.
I started my Saturday pretty late (I love my weekend sleep) and dudeguy reminded me that we had an outing for that afternoon. Apparently, one of his favorite stores was having an Oktoberfest celebration. They usually have all kinds of things going on during the weekends, so I was more than happy to finally attend one. When we got there, Brats and Beer was the theme. Lovely.
Surfas is a chef’s paradise. No I am not a chef. Dudeguy moonlights as one and I am more than happy to tag along when he makes a run. We’re in there so much that a good lot of the staff there knows us. LOL.
I found out that these delicious brats were made of wild boar right before I ate my second one. I didn’t care. LOL. And the beer was spectacular. I am usually not a fan of beer. In fact, counting this one, I can say that I’ve liked three beers. If you come across Paulaner’s special Oktoberfest brew, you should give it a guzzle.
It was on the cold side that morning, so I layered without fear of burning up inside my many shirts and a jacket. it even rained a little, making it that much better. I am really loving this cooler weather.

Shirt & Jacket: Urban Outfitters; Blue Shirt: Thrifted
Jeans: Forever 21
Shoes: Nine West
Later on that night, I had to drive really freakin‘ far to Simi Valley to my lovely friend Jaz’s birthday party (find her at NerdLike). All I can say is that we had a liquor induced merry ol’ time. That was, until all the trance music came on. And the cake fight.
Jacket: Thrifted
Sweater (that really shouldn’t have been worn as a dress): Forever 21
Leggings: American Apparel
Shoes: Bakers
All of that running around made for an extremely lazy Sunday full of me sitting around the house, going to the taqueria around the corner from the house and upsetting dudeguy (see last post). I had a really good weekend.

I know I said I wouldn’t…
But I’m weak. Very weak.
After two months of stalking, thinking, looking, wanting, looking at Rumi, and pondering, I bought another pair of shoes. Yes, my savings account is devoid of meaning at the moment, but I think I’m good on shoes for a very long time now.
My new toys which I have dubbed “those hot bitches”:

They were too freakin’ interesting to pass up, and if you missed the earlier linked pictures, they look spectacular when they’re actually on. I can’t wait to get them.
Thanks for your help, Rumi! She’s really sweet guys, so please check out Fashion Toast since you’re already trolling the interwebs. Me, I’m off to retail rehab right after I try to win that white dress I showed you earlier. Yes, it’s on ebay and 13 minutes from now I will either be very happy or very upset.
I have a problem, I know.

Alicia 3000?
Not really, but my best friend (who I work with) commented that we’re a lot like Outkast – very different, but when we come together, it’s a wonderful thing. Clearly I’m the Andre in the duo.
My outfit today made that very clear. Especially when standing opposite someone in a grey shirt and jeans. I felt like a neutral-colored gumball machine. In a good way.
I’m so glad it’s finally cooled off (mind you that in L.A., it’s no surprise for the temperature to drop 24 degrees from one day to the next). I was more than happy to don my textured thick tights to work under that skirt I made.
You don’t know how happy I am to finally be able to wear the mounds of sweaters I have in my closet now. I just hope it stays like this for longer than a weekend.
After work today, I went fabric shopping at Mood and got some REALLY cool stuff. I have ideas for all of it, so stay tuned. *unnecessary evil laugh*
Have a great weekend, guys! I was already well into mine before I left work, LOL. I have a couple of birthday parties to attend and some relaxing (hopefully) and sewing to do. Toodles!

Tone-Def
I’ve been wanting to do a tonal outfit for a while now and since I have these cute lil’ oxfords, I decided to do it in my favorite color: grey. Ideally, it would have been three shades/tints of the color, but I didn’t realize how close the shirt and jeans were until it was time to leave. Oh well. LOL.
Shirt: got it on Melrose
Jeans: American Apparel
Shoes: Forever 21
Necklace: my freakin’ sweet grandma
Dogs: 2 Bichon Frises
It wasn’t as hot today, so I was definitely thankful for that. After I got home from work, I went by my mom/grandma’s house to check up on things since they’re both out of town. My sister was there looking very sickly, so I played loving and responsible big sis and cleaned up the yard. In this. And that included picking up after the two dogs. Fun. Great fun.

Oct 01 2008
Umm…it’s October…
WHY is it 96 degrees today?
I am officially over summer weather in the fall. It is too damn hot. I would like to say I’m at home relaxing while I’m writing this, but instead I’m in a state of half-perspiration; you know, that damp feeling you get all over when it’s hot as hell, but you aren’t moving enough to create actual sweat?
So uncomfortable.
There is some relief because the air is on constantly at work. I remembered to bring a sweater so I didn’t freeze at my computer.
Cardigan: Forever 21
Tank: Target
Bowtie: vintage via ebay
Jeans: Refuge
Shoes: Bakers
Right now, I’m on a DIY kick. I just hacked up a long nightgown-ish dress I got at the dollar sale and made a cute and flimsy (and WAY too short for work) shirt. Now, I’m on a mission to make myself a couple of skirts since I don’t want to give American Apparel anymore money. Besides, they ran out of the colors I wanted online. On the menu: this and this. Hopefully it will go well. If not, at least I am supporting the Legalize LA movement.

Now, I’m on a mission to make myself a couple of skirts since I don’t want to give American Apparel anymore money. Besides, they ran out of the colors I wanted online. On the menu: this and this. Hopefully it will go well. If not, at least I am supporting the Legalize LA movement.
