More flowers…

Ok, so I got a floral dress.  Strange, I know.  Even stranger were the many responses to the outfit I put together around this dress.  I was cute to some, a school-girl to another, slutty to my frenemy/commiserate, and collegiate to someone else.

I just wanted to wear trouser socks…without pants.   LOL.

Saturday Special: 2 for 1!

Or…something like that.

This weekend was draining.  I’ve been a little sick (which, along with an oversleeping friend of mine…looking at YOU, Fernie) kept me from going to Jet Rag on Sunday.  Bluh.  Even still, with this congestion,  I was walking around for most of Saturday, enjoying the still-hot weather, grocery shopping, and thrifting ever so slightly.  Nothing major, I assure you.  I did, however, manage to finally get my car out of the shop (*crossing fingers it doesn’t break again*) AND I got to go to one of my favorite taco stands.  If you’ve never been to Yuca’s Tacos in Los Feliz, you really should try it; the pibil taco comes with my highest recommendations.  And as a word of caution, they don’t have posted hours and I’m convinced they close whenever they run out of food.  If you go, go in the early afternoon.  And bring cash.

Raiding Mom’s Closet

I begged my mom to give me this shirt of her’s.  Sure she’s only 2/3 my size and the shirt was a might too small…ok, a lot too small…I just had to see what it looked like on me.  After a brief struggle with getting it over my head, and then my boobs, and then realizing the shirt was way too tight for me to even consider wearing, I decided that I had committed to the idea of wearing it already and threw a blazer I bought years ago and never wore on top.  And I just really, really like that necklace.

I was pulling that damn shirt down all.day.  LOL.  Thanks mom!!!

New Shoes, Florals and Fencing

Today, I got a lesson in fencing from my friend Thomas.  He’s cool.  Anyway, we didn’t have proper fencing implements, so I’m using a random reed from the park.  I don’t think I learned enough to challenge someone, but I looked moderately impressive…at least in my own mind I did.

FlyJane-gate 2008

UPDATE: This issue was resolved, very pleasantly, and you should consider this the ravings of a very upset woman who was lacking information and hepped up on adrenaline.  FlyJane is cool with me.

WARNING: Rant about to commence

Ok, so a while back I bought a couple of pairs of shoes from flyjane.net that didn’t work out too well – one pair was not what I ordered and the other pair was way too small.  On August 22, I returned both pairs to flyjane and bought a pair that I knew I would love from a brick and mortar store.  The keyword here is RETURNED.

A few weeks later, circa September 5, I see a credit for $39 had been posted to my account.  There were two things wrong with this.  1 – neither pair of shoes cost less than $45; 2 – I paid nearly $98.  I read the return slip (which I kept a copy of thankyouverymuch) and it said that at most, a restocking fee of $5.95 is charged in case of damage.  I knew neither pair was damaged, so I called.  And I called again.  Got bumped to voicemail for customer service both times.  I sent an email – no one responds.

I’m at level yellow irritation.

I call again on September 12, and miraculously someone answers the phone.  I tell her that the credit I received for the returned shoes was a little short.  She tells me that one pair was EXCHANGED and that the package was sent out September 6.  I tell her I wanted them both returned, but I’ll look out for the package.

September 16 comes and I stll don’t see a package.  Feeling that this was a bit odd, I called flyjane again only to be sent to voicemail.  Again.  I left a very detailed message about how I initially returned both pairs of shoes and somehow one got exchanged and was sent out on the 6th.  I told them that I intended to return the pair that was sent to me as soon as I receive it and asked that someone call me back so I know the message was received.

I didn’t get a call back.

I did, however, come home to an email yesterday from flyjane.net informing me that my package had been sent out on September 17 and that I could track it via fedex.

Please let all of that swirl around in your head for a minute and tell me if I was wrong.

I lost it.  I mean, completely lost it.  I responded to this email with a very long and tense letter.  Basically, I told them that it’s an unnaceptable business practice to a) exchange something that was clearly maked as an item to be returned, b) lie and tell me a package was shipped, and c) respond to my message stating that I intended to return the shoes by shipping the damn shoes.  I want all of my money back – for the shoes, and for shipping the first and now second time I’ve had to ship these shoes to flyjane.

I’m so pissed.  The only thing keeping me on an even keel is knowing that I keep copies of damn near everything and can build a pretty strong case if they try to contest anything.  I might just start some mess for the hell of it and call over there to see if anyone got my email…

In short, FLYJANE.NET’s customer service and practices SUCK…MAJORLY.

Did I Do Thaaaaaaat?

Hmm, another cold-morphing-into-hot-as-hell-day today.  How uninteresting and typical.  I should really be celebrating this good weather since so many others aren’t so fortunate right now.

*empathy pause*

I’m not in too good a mood right now because dudeguy and I got in a bullshit fight – he finally got to feel how it is to be me in an argument (read: the shoe was on the other foot).  Men are strange creatures.  Very strange.  He’s mad right now.  I’m not.  Oh well.

For some reason, I feel like Urkel today…minus the suspenders, long sleeved shirt, and glasses chain.

Shirt: Thrifted

Bowtie: Vintage via eBay

Jeans: American Apparel

Shoes: Payless

Oh wait!  I has a happy!!! My Nine West boots just came (thank endless.com for free overnight shipping!).  I love them because they have made me glad.  Blasphemy at its finest, maybe, but these boots are niiiiiiiiiiice.

And as much as I love these purple shoes, I may have to let them go because the size lied and they are choking the life out of my toes.  If anyone wears a 7.5, be my guest.

Boots…Boots…Boots…

Oops…I did it again.

I really hope I’m not giving off the impression that I have all of this excess cash laying around waiting for me to spend it on shoes, because that is the furthest thing from the truth.  In reality, I am going through a compulsive shopping period that has been focused on footwear.  I would see a shrink about it, but I’m really not a fan of meds…or talking to people.

My latest splurges:

Don’t ask, but I have a perfectly good reason for buying each and every one of these pairs of shoes.  You’ll have to trust me.

I hope I’m out of this *looks left* phase *looks right* soon.  Actually, I hope it starts to get cold soon.  It’s supposed to be fall and no one told SoCal for some reason.  And I have to wear these boots.  All of them.  Often.

This Schoolgirl and Asian Fusion

I think I’m getting sick.  This up and down weather that is so typical of where I live wreaks havoc on my sinuses.  Luckily for me, that lo-ve-ly skirt that Wendy made for me is made of the softest fabric (it feels like pajamas!) and I was comfortable.  So comfortable that I almost fell asleep at work.  Twice.  I figured some spicy food would help pick me up, so I went to the Samurai Sam’s for a firecracker beef bowl and a chicken eggroll.  It didn’t work.  It was good, though.

Cardigan: Target

Shirt: Urban Outfitters

Skirt: Wendy made it!

Shoes: Nine West

Nerd Glasses: Aldo

Eggroll: is now no more

Contrary to rumor…

Gigolos get lonely, too.

And Christmas comes many, many times a year.  Or at least for me it does.  Everytime a package comes to my doorstep, it’s Christmas.  I teem with excitement at the thought of the package at the door; I jump up and down when I see said package at the door; I tear at the package with nothing short of deranged, mouth-frothing glee when it gets in my hands.  I love my mini Christmases and today, I had two.  TWO!!!

When I got home, I was greeted with this envelope.  I recognized the person it was from immediately.  I screamed with delight.  I’m still screaming with deight.

My plaid skirt is here!  My skirt is heeeeerrreeeeeee!  Wendy, I’m dancing like a small, caffeine-injected child.  I can’t wait to wear this.  Actually, I’m wearing it tomorrow.

A few hours later, Christmas came again.  I have been waiting with bated breath for this package to come.  Tracking, stalking, tracking, stalking, whining, tracking, and cursing the very name of UPS until 10 minutes ago.  My Zanjas are here.  And I absolutely adore them.  No, I love them.  Better yet, I want to live in them.

(and that is my beloved OPI Malaysian Mist on the toes)

I would be the one to order sandals in the fall, but I live in L.A. (take that sandal-forbidding cold of the east coast!!) and these beckoned me.  They practically called my name and showed me that I could get them for all of $21 with all applied promotional discounts from Amazon.com.  I couldn’t resist.  You guys know how I am with shoes.  I confirmed that yet again last night (more on that later).

I have to go now.  I need to work out some more of this excitement and go jump on the bed or something.

Slow days and $1 dresses

Not much happened today.  Not much was going on with my outfit, either.  My car is in the shop (still haven’t heard anything…) and I missed a funeral because of it.  Bluh.  I don’t do too well at funerals anyway, so it was probably best that I didn’t make it.

Dress: Thrifted

Scarf & Shoes: Forever 21

And I am still awaiting the arrival of my Nine West Zanjas.  They were supposed to be here today.  Grrrr.  UPS has until 7pm and then I’m making a phone call…or not.
